Toyota has announced a $3.6 billion investment in its San Antonio, Texas campus, which will result in the addition of a second production line at the facility. The investment will lead to the creation of 2,000 new jobs, bringing the total workforce at the campus to around 6,000. The new production line will be used to shift Tacoma production from Mexico to the United States.

The investment will also result in the doubling of the facility's size to 5 million square feet. Toyota North American President and CEO Ted Ogawa stated, "By expanding our San Antonio plant, we are deepening our commitment to American manufacturing, creating meaningful and sustainable jobs, while advancing our mission to deliver high-quality vehicles that meet the changing needs of customers today and into the future."

The Tacoma will be built alongside the Tundra and Sequoia in the United States, all of which share Toyota's TNGA-F platform. The company also builds rear axles at the facility. This investment is part of Toyota's plan to invest $10 billion in its US facilities over the next five years.

In recent years, Toyota has made significant investments in its US operations. In November 2025, the company announced a $453 million investment in its West Virginia factory and a $204.4 million investment in its Kentucky facility for hybrid vehicles and other components. Toyota has also invested in its Arizona proving grounds.

The fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma was launched for the 2024 model year, and sales have been strong. In June, sales were up 3.4 percent, with 23,158 trucks sold. So far this year, Toyota has sold 143,848 Tacoma trucks, a 9.9 percent increase from 2025. The company is on track to sell over 280,000 units, which would make 2026 the model's best sales year ever.

The 2026 Tacoma is available in two cab configurations with two bed sizes. The base model, the Tacoma SR XtraCab, starts at $34,190, including the $1,745 destination charge. The top-of-the-line Tacoma TRD Pro starts at $66,395.
