Rivian's cheapest R1S and R1T models are no longer available. The Dual Standard variants have been discontinued, as noticed by some of the brand's closest followers on Tuesday. The electric carmaker had previously announced in March that these models would be discontinued, stating that they would be refining their R1 vehicle lineup later this year and sunsetting the R1 Dual Standard.
The R1 Dual Standard models featured a pair of motors and Rivian's smallest battery option, with the R1S Dual Standard priced at $76,990 before fees and options, and the Dual Standard R1T priced at $72,990. The new cheapest R1S, the R1S Dual, now costs $83,990, while the lowest-priced R1T is $79,990.
Both discontinued models had an EPA-estimated range of 270 miles. Upgrading to the Large pack in the Dual models increases the EPA range to 329 miles. Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe had previously stated that very few of its customers purchased the entry trims. The Dual Standard R1T was Rivian's lowest-priced option for a long time but is now being phased out as a more accessible model, the R2, comes into play.
Rivian began customer deliveries of its first mass-market crossover, the R2, this month. The R2 Performance with Launch Package, the first available model, is priced at $57,990. A more affordable $45,000 version is planned for release next year.
