A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Mercedes-AMG, claiming that metal AMG seat badges became dangerously hot in the sun, leaving owners with logo-shaped burns. The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court of California's Western division, alleges that the luxury automaker failed to provide adequate warnings about the potential danger of the metal badges.
The plaintiffs, Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep "Karina" Bath, claim that they suffered burns after coming into contact with the hot metal badges in their Mercedes-AMG vehicles. Bath took to social media to share her experience, posting a video to her TikTok account that showed the burn she allegedly received from the seat in her Mercedes-AMG.
View Price on AmazonLahijani, meanwhile, claimed that he leased a new 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class from a Los Angeles dealership and suffered burns when his exposed back came into contact with the hot AMG logo in the seat. He reportedly visited a board-certified dermatologist, who documented first- and second-degree burns. The doctor described the injury as "AMG inscribed," meaning the performance brand's familiar logo had essentially been branded onto his back.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for the plaintiffs' alleged injuries, including medical treatment, as well as damages related to the physical and emotional impact of the incidents. The plaintiffs are also asking Mercedes-AMG to fund a fix for other affected owners by paying to have the metal AMG seat emblems removed.
