Lucid Gravity GT-S Brings Back the Dream Edition’s 1070 Horsepower, Adds Handling Prowess

The bubble-shaped SUV’s latest model may not be a full-blown Sapphire, but it’s still quite the pretty, shiny object. Lucid is no stranger to pioneering electric innovation and wrapping the fruits of its labors in slippery, good-looking wrappers. On Thursday, the California-based startup is continuing its streak by launching the latest version of its battery-powered three-row SUV that makes over 1000 horsepower.

The Lucid Gravity launched in November 2024, and quickly amassed praise for its plush interior, comfortable ride, among other factors. But Lucid has always focused on balancing luxury with performance, and the automaker’s latest iteration of the Gravity skews toward the exhilarating end of the spectrum. Officially known as the Lucid Gravity GT-S, the bubble-shaped SUV brings back the output of up to 1070 horsepower found on the now-defunct Dream Edition, and delivers a claimed 0-60 mile-per-hour time of 3.1 seconds.

The Gravity was no slouch before the GT-S version, mind you; Grand Touring trim Gravity models offer 828 horsepower, 909 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph sprint of 3.4 seconds. Even the base model Touring version is equipped with 560 horsepower. Still, four-figure horsepower has only been available so far on the Dream Edition that the car launched with, a special edition that was restricted to just 450 examples.

It isn’t just straight-line speed that Lucid is focused on. The Gravity GT-S features a new Dynamic Handling Package that adds independent rear-wheel steering and an adaptive three-chamber air suspension that lowers the vehicle at speed. "With Lucid Gravity GT-S, we've created a more expressive and exhilarating interpretation of the Gravity SUV," said Derek Jenkins, chief creative officer at Lucid. "It combines extraordinary performance with the comfort, space, and versatility that define Gravity, delivering an exceptional experience for our customers that is uniquely Lucid."

Gravity GT-S models distinguish themselves outside with blue accents and painted blue brake calipers. Lucid has continued the azul theme inside the SUV too; the Mojave PurLuxe Premium interior features blue stitching and piping across the first and second rows, blue seatbelts, and blue stitching on the steering wheel, door armrests, and front center armrest.

Regardless of how much they love cerulean trim, Lucid’s target customer for the Gravity GT-S is an affluent one: the starting price sits at $127,750, including an $1850 destination and delivery fee. That’s a pretty penny, no doubt, but the dollar-per-horsepower ratio is fairly generous, especially compared to the $250,000, 1234-hp Lucid Air Sapphire.
