Lamborghini Revuelto SV: Overcoming the Heat for Unmatched Performance

Lamborghini's newest supercar, the Revuelto SV, has arrived with monstrous performance capabilities. However, keeping the V-12 supercar at optimal operating temperatures during development proved to be a challenging task, according to Revuelto product line director Alessandro Farmerschi.

The Revuelto SV boasts a 1050-horsepower peak, thanks to a larger 7.3 kWh battery pack, up from the standard Revuelto's 1001-horsepower peak. This increase in power results in a rapid 2.4-second claimed run from 0 to 60 miles per hour and a reported 0-124 mph run of 6.7 seconds. Along with this increase in speed came a focus on aerodynamics, replacing the standard car's active wing with a fixed carbon fiber piece and adding new side air inlets.

Optimizing airflow over the Revuelto SV added more issues for Lamborghini's engineers. Farmerschi explained that the cooling system didn't cool down as expected, causing the car to go into de-rating due to excessive heat. To address this, the team had to work on the aerodynamics, changing the position of the radiator and modifying the fender.

The starting point was already so good that engineers didn't have much wiggle room for the Super Veloce version's needed tweaks. Consistent performance is key for the Lamborghini customer, and the Italian automaker wants the Revuelto SV's performance numbers to be repeatable, day in and day out. As a result, Lamborghini put the Revuelto SV through its paces in extreme heat and extreme cold.

The focus on dissipating heat extends to the Revuelto SV's new CCM-R Plus braking system, which uses long strands of carbon fiber pressed together for a more even rotor surface. The circular construction of the carbon rotors allows for higher and more stable friction without any pre-bedding required.

Finally, the Revuelto SV takes some performance cues from its Urus Performante SE sibling, featuring a 6D sensor that relies on a three-axis accelerometer to measure roll, pitch, and yaw. Combined with the Revuelto SV's new track-focused Pilota drive mode and a five-stage traction-control system, the 6D sensor should help make this Lamborghini's sharpest V-12 supercar yet.
