Maybe you've never heard of Eccentrica, but you've certainly heard of the Lamborghini Diablo the V12 Roadster is based on. This year's Monterey Car Week is nearly upon us, which means it's time for every ultra-exclusive automaker you've never heard of to come crawling out of the woodwork with something new to sell to exceedingly wealthy individuals. Eccentrica, the Lamborghini Diablo-restomod building company that debuted its fixed-roof V12 back in 2024, is back with a Roadster variant of the same name.
Eccentrica describes the new V12 Roadster as "An icon with '90s soul and modern precision." That description sets the company up for a rather tall task—taking the famously raw Lamborghini Diablo and crafting it into a modern experience.
View Price on AmazonEccentrica says the Roadster is a "comprehensive re-engineering" of an early Diablo, complete with more than 3500 new components to bring it into the modern era of sports cars. It has a re-shaped wing, new splitters, and lighter wheels to cut down on unsprung weight. The chassis is built from a carbon-reinforced steel frame, with each body panel made from carbon fiber.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V-12 that produces 550 horsepower at 7000 rpm. Torque peaks at 443 pound-feet, with power routing through a six-speed gated manual; oddly, the Eccentrica's render shows only five speeds. Still, the engine should be plenty snappy, given that the ECU was remapped specifically to deliver sharper throttle response. Despite the loss of the roof, Eccentrica says that the V12 Roadster matches the coupe's 208-mph top speed.
Eccentrica will officially unveil the V12 Roadster at The Quail, which takes place on Friday, August 14, as part of this year’s Monterey Car Week. Production of the roofless restomod will be limited to just 19 units, with each being built to a customer's specifications. The automaker hasn’t revealed pricing for the model, though the MSRP will likely be as fittingly exclusive as the production numbers.
