An investigation that began with a stolen C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette from a dealership in Thousand Oaks, California, led to the recovery of over $1.3 million worth of allegedly stolen cars, including a Lamborghini Aventador and several Porsche 911s. The 2026 Corvette Stingray, valued at $105,000, was reported stolen on May 19, prompting an investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
Over the following weeks, detectives worked alongside the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force, the Organized Retail Theft Task Force, the East County Investigations Bureau Property Crimes Unit, and the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit to identify the suspects. Their investigation culminated on July 1, with a coordinated enforcement operation in Los Angeles County, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Brandon Taylor and John Ivy, on multiple felony charges, including vehicle theft, conspiracy, and possession of stolen vehicles.
The search warrants executed at properties in North Hollywood and Los Angeles uncovered a range of equipment associated with organized vehicle theft operations, including blank temporary license plates, high-end vehicle key fobs, fraudulent vehicle documentation, electronic devices, and other evidence tied to the investigation. The recovered vehicles include a Lamborghini Aventador (valued at approximately $450,000), a Porsche 911 Carrera (valued at approximately $240,000), a Porsche 911 Targa (valued at approximately $240,000), a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (valued at approximately $70,000), a GMC Hummer EV (valued at approximately $100,000), a BMW X7 M60i (valued at approximately $110,000), a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (valued at approximately $89,000), and a Chevrolet Colorado (valued at approximately $35,000).
Combined, the recovered vehicles are worth more than $1.3 million and produce over 4,000 horsepower. Both Taylor and Ivy remain in custody at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, with bail set at $250,000 for each suspect. The case has been submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.
