Cadillac's V-One Concept Refines Its Le Mans Racer

The more stately V-One softens up Cadillac's Le Mans pole-sitter and IMSA champion, the V-Series.R. Whether at Le Mans, Daytona, and a dozen other race tracks across the world, Cadillac's name is synonymous with an almighty roar.

The V-Series.R, the current LMDh-spec racer that Cadillac factory programs run in IMSA GTP and the FIA World Endurance Championship, is a fan favorite in part because of the absurd noise it makes when its naturally-aspirated V-8 bump stops off all-electric power. As of Friday, Cadillac is imagining what that iconic powertrain would look like in a very different context.

This is the V-One, the latest Monterey Car Week presentation from Cadillac. It is being called a concept, but Cadillac Executive Design Director Dominic Nafaji also calls it “a clear sign of our ambition for the Cadillac V-Series brand in the future.” Whether or not that means Cadillac actually plans to sell customers a refined version of its V-One, it feels like a good sign that the brand imagines more naturally-aspirated track cars going forward in one way or another.

Aside from a unique two-tone finish of silver and dark blue, the exterior of the V-One should look extremely familiar to anyone who has seen the V-Series.R on track. The V-One even carries a low-mounted rear wing, a hallmark of the V-Series.R only since its aerodynamic platform was updated for the start of the 2026 IMSA season. Everything else, from the massive fin on the back of the engine cover to the flying buttress-like winglets attached only to the inside of all four fenders, carries over from the race car.

Things turn more unique inside, where Cadillac has followed Porsche's one-off 963 RSP by refining the sharp edges of the spartan cabin of what would otherwise be a race car. Softer materials, including recycled fabrics, cover some of the hard carbon fiber surfaces someone might expect to find on a race car. A steering wheel specific to the V-One sits at the center, running what Cadillac calls “an intuitive, race-inspired interface and data visualization concept.” In other words, the car's user interface has also been adjusted to be more accommodating to potential private owners.

Performance comes from that familiar 5.5-liter V-8 as part of a hybrid powertrain, producing a combined 830 horsepower in this application. Suspension components are shared with the race car, as well.

To be sure, the V-One is not exactly a V-Series.R road car, even in concept form. Instead, this is best thought of as Cadillac's slightly more plush answer to the Ferrari 499P Modificata or the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM—a variant of a Le Mans racer built with a customer in mind. Even that is still theoretical, though. This is just a concept for now, one debuting at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering as part of Monterey Car Week. We'll have to wait to see if Cadillac has anything more planned for this particular evolution of its race-winning prototype.
