AEV's Second Ford Super Duty Package Is Extreme Off-Road Lite

Following the FXL revealed earlier this year, the FX370 makes do with 37-inch tires instead of 40s. The meticulous off-road fabricators at AEV are used to accommodating big tires. So it's almost as if they've taken a break by engineering a new package for the Ford Super Duty pickup that only makes room for 37-inch rubber. Almost. The resulting truck is still an OEM-quality upfit just like AEV's Jeeps and pickups from Chevy, GMC, and Ram, and still packs plenty of off-road capability.

The FX370 follows the AEV FXL Super Duty announced earlier this year. The big difference between them is the bigness of their tires. As its name hints at, the FX370 rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K03 rubber, while the FXL comes on 40-inch BFGoodrich HD-Terrain KT tires—it may not be a coincidence that XL is 40 in Roman numerals.

Aside from the obvious tire-height difference and the subsequent difference in ride height, most of the FX370's modifications are the same as on the FXL. There's a winch-compatible AEV stamped steel bumper up front as well as a high-clearance AEV rear bumper for added protection (and intimidation). Both trucks use AEV's four-inch DualSport suspension setup with Bilstein dampers, specifically designed for the Super Duty.

The exterior graphics packages are also nearly identical, with the only difference being the package name toward the rear of the bedsides. Inside, their AEV-embroidered headrests match as well. Because the lifted AEV suspension and some wheel-well tweaks create the clearance necessary for those 37s, the FX370 doesn't require sheetmetal surgery or come with the FXL's HighMark fender flares. Chances are that kit will be an option, and one we'd choose for looks alone.

AEV says it will start producing the FX370 in October. Package pricing starts at $19,999 before any options or upgrades, on top of the cost of a Ford Super Duty truck. For those keeping score, that's $6,000 and three tire inches shy of the FXL.
