A successor to the famed Viper sports car is in the works over at Dodge, and we're told it will wear the name Copperhead. Details are slim, but the high-performance halo coupe is expected to bow before the end of the decade.
Performance-wise, we must assume that we'll see some Hemi action under the hood, probably a variant of Stellantis's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that can be found in the Ram SRT TRX. That supercharged engine made as much as 777 horsepower in the off-road pickup. That power level would put the Copperhead in a position to compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC.
View Price on AmazonExpert Tip: The Viper had always been powered by a V-10 engine, so we wouldn't rule out such a powertrain in a higher-powered variant of the Copperhead at some point.
The Copperhead will be a new addition to the Dodge lineup when it reaches production. The earliest we expect to see the new sports car is the 2029 model year.
Dodge hasn't released pricing information for the Copperhead yet, but we have to expect a starting price of at least $100,000. When we find out more information, we will update this story with details.
