The BMW X6 and iX6 are set to arrive in 2028, with designs showcasing a luxurious SUV coupe. The X6, which was first introduced in 2008, will enter its fourth generation in 2028. For the first time, an all-electric version, the iX6, will be available, giving customers a choice between different powertrains. However, the X6 will not offer a hydrogen fuel cell variant like the iX5 Hydrogen, and the availability of plug-in hybrids is uncertain.
Designs from Uyguarspots show the X6 in the new Neue Klasse style, based on the X5 with the M Sport package. As one of the first coupes in this new style, some differences from the current X-design language, which has only been seen on the iX3 and iX5, are possible. More information will be available in the coming months, with the launch of the BMW iX4 (NA7), the smaller sibling of the X6 and iX6.
We expect the BMW X6 and iX6 to arrive in the German market in the summer of 2028, with production taking place at the Spartanburg plant, as with all previous X6 models. At launch, the X6 will likely be available with a base gasoline and diesel engine, as well as the M Performance V8 in the X6 M60 xDrive. The iX6 could be offered in three variants: the base iX6 50, the iX6 60, and the top-of-the-line iX6 M70. The electric iX6 60 is expected to have a longer range than the iX5, which has a maximum range of up to 523 miles, thanks to its more aerodynamic coupe design.
A new generation of the BMW X6 M (G96) is also planned, but with a significant change: it will no longer feature a V8 engine. Instead, a high-performance electric vehicle with M eDrive is expected. The X6 M will likely have a more powerful electric motor, but details are still scarce.
