The 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT is a game-changer in the world of off-road pickups. With its raw power and luxurious features, it redefines the off-road pickup experience. Ram didn't invent the fast off-road pickup, but the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT is here to make a statement.
The TRX is officially an SRT model now, and it benefits from all the updates the rest of the Ram 1500 lineup received during its mid-cycle overhaul. It also gets an updated version of the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8, which now produces 777 horsepower, thanks to increased fuel pressure and improved airflow. The engine is also fitted with the old Hellcat Redeye valvetrain, allowing it to rev up to 6,500 rpm.
This means the TRX now makes more power and torque than the Raptor R, with 680 lb-ft of twist. You also get a fully loaded Ram 1500 with a BorgWarner 48-13 transfer case providing full-time four-wheel drive. Out back, there's a Dana 60 with full-float shafts and an electronic locking differential. The TRX features 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires at all four corners and a set of adaptive Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shocks.
Buchanan, Michigan, is a charming little town in the southwest corner of the state, surrounded by agriculture and empty brown fields. Just north of town, along the St. Joseph River, lies RedBud MX, a famous motocross venue. We spent the day tearing up a hillside course carved out just for the TRX, with six or seven turns and a handful of obstacles, including jumps.
The TRX is the sort of antisocial jock-rocket that's best exploited in the middle of nowhere, far from judging eyes and sensitive ears. With its credentials, the TRX is a beast of a truck that combines raw power with luxury, redefining the off-road pickup experience.
