See the interior and exterior of the 2027 Ram 1500 BackCountry and Rebel X from every angle. The Ram 1500 BackCountry and the Rebel X are the 1500 lineup's mid-tier off-road trucks. While the X-rated model boasts a more luxurious interior and exclusive features, it's considerably more expensive than its counterpart, which alone can be optioned with the desirable Hemi V-8.
The Backcountry package is a $2995 option for the Big Horn 4x4 crew cab that mostly adds upgrades for playing in the dirt. Along with a one-inch suspension lift, the BC kit includes front tow hooks, heavy-duty dampers, underbody skid plates, an electronic locking rear diff, and 32-inch-tall all-terrain tires.
The BackCountry is available with a 420-hp Hurricane twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six or a 395-hp 5.7-liter V-8, which gets worse gas mileage but sounds burlier. The BC's black interior features vinyl seats with mesh inserts, with front seats and a steering wheel that are heated. The front seatbacks also have MOLLE panels for extra storage.
Ram says the order books are closed for the 2026 BackCountry, but it returns for the 2027 model year, starting at $64,160 when optioned with the Hemi engine. The Rebel X debuted for the 2025 model year to celebrate the off-road model's 10-year anniversary, and it was back by popular demand for 2026 and now 2027.
Based on the Rebel, the X gets 33-inch-tall Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and introduces unique visual callouts and the gimmicky Rough Road Cruise Control. Unlike the BackCountry, the Rebel X isn't compatible with the Hemi V-8, meaning the buttery Hurricane engine is mandatory. It's also the quicker and more fuel-efficient option.
The Rebel X does have multiple exterior camera views that make solo off-roading easier, and its blocky tires aren't noticeably noisy at highway speeds. The 2027 Ram 1500 Rebel X starts at $74,925, which is over $10,000 more than the BackCountry and only a few thousand dollars less than the wide-body 550-hp RHO.
