The GLC53 replaces both of AMG's four-cylinder GLC offerings, the GLC43 and GLC63. Unlike its predecessors, this one decides to throw a couple more cylinders into the mix. AMG has brought a six-cylinder back into the GLC's lineup with the GLC53.
View Price on AmazonThe six-cylinder engine packs a dual-scroll turbocharger, as well as an electric supercharger, to produce 443 horsepower and up to 472 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes estimates a 4.1-second sprint to 60 mph, but we wager that our real-world testing will earn results in the high-three-second range.
In our brief drive, the GLC53's powertrain gave us a feeling reminiscent of AMG's old 6.3-liter V-8, albeit without that mill's gnarly sound profile. We expect the GLC53 to be priced from $70,000 to $75,000.
