2027 Lamborghini Urus SE Performante: Unleashing Hybrid Power

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante has been revealed, boasting an impressive 801-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain. This new iteration of the Urus features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine combined with an electric motor, resulting in 801 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. The Urus SE Performante can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and reach 124 mph in 10.8 seconds, according to Lamborghini.

The Performante still uses an eight-speed automatic transmission, which has been retuned to reduce lag between shifts. The 26-kWh battery provides over 30 miles of electric-only range, allowing drivers to run errands without attracting too much attention. However, the lime-green paint may counteract this. When it's time to put the pedal to the metal, drivers will be happy to learn the braking system has also been upgraded, with Lamborghini reporting a 10 percent increase in braking power and 8 percent more efficient brake cooling.

The Urus SE Performante features a new titanium exhaust from Akrapovič, which creates a richer note at lower speeds and more thrilling noises under acceleration. The SUV wears angrier styling, with the extensive use of carbon fiber shedding around 70 pounds versus the standard SE. Much of the carbon fiber has been left exposed, including two strips on the hood. There's also an available carbon-fiber roof, although the Performante comes standard with a panoramic glass setup.

Bigger openings in the front bumper help cool the engine, and the carbon-fiber wheel arches gain small slots to extract high-pressure air from around the new 23-inch wheels and reduce front lift. The aerodynamic trickery continues at the rear, where a small roof-mounted wing directs air down to a sizable lip spoiler that works in conjunction with the largest diffuser ever fitted to an Urus to produce rear downforce. Lamborghini says the Performante has 3 percent less aerodynamic drag than the standard SE, matching the drag of the previous Performante while increasing downforce by 16 percent.

The suspension is new too, adding dual-chamber air springs, an upgrade from the single-chamber air suspension in the standard Urus SE. Lamborghini says this new setup provides a wide range of adjustability, reducing body roll during spirited driving by 55 percent while also making the car more comfortable than the last nonhybrid Performante. The SE Performante gains Lamborghini's "6-D sensor," first seen in the limited-production Fenomeno, which measures six parameters and feeds this information to the car's computers to adjust the vehicle's dynamic behavior in real time.
